The field of lighting is currently undergoing many historic changes. Solid state lighting is replacing classical lighting products, and these new devices require advanced characterisation and measurement methods.

The International Commission on Illumination (CIE) offers a two-day conference consisting of a one-day tutorial and a one-day scientific symposium. On the first day there will be a tutorial on state-of-the-art techniques in the field of photometry. Invited experts will present lectures on basic concepts to advanced techniques in photometric and colorimetric measurements, aimed at engineers and researchers in LED and solid state lighting measurement and other fields. On the second day, a scientific symposium will feature contributed papers presenting recent advances in photometry, colorimetry, and radiometry with a focus on the spectral and imaging methods.

The event is organised by CIE Division 2 in cooperation with the Swiss Lighting Society (SLG), and is hosted by the Federal Office of Metrology (METAS). The symposium will be followed by the annual meeting of CIE Division 2 and its technical committees.
